Got up early. Visiting Cliff Dwellings at Mesa Verde National Park, 4 Corners and arriving at the Grand Canyon – hopefully before dark.

We decided to detour off the interstate for a roadside attraction. We got onto Route 66 and visited Galena, KS. We went to Cars on Route 66 where the inspiration for the Disney movie Cars came from. This is the original tow truck that inspired the producer for Tow Mater.

We’re working our way to Amarillo, TX tonight. We’ve done 2 hours of driving so far with 7 to go if we get back on the highway, but we will do a bit more of Route 66.

Here’s the list of common questions we get when we tell people about our trip:

What are you going to see?

• It’s a monumental list that includes the St. Louis Arch, the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park along with many infamous road side attractions.

How long will you be gone?

• We aren’t 100% sure. We leave Thursday and will probably be gone around 14-16 days.

Did you rent an RV?

• Nope. We will be road warriors in the 2008 Honda Odyssey.

Won’t you get tired of being with your family for two weeks?

• Probably… But we can get just as sick of each other then as we can at home.

Are you crazy?

• Perhaps. We are all nervously excited about the adventure ahead.

The Mislansky family will be embarking on an epic road trip that would make Clarke Griswold proud.

We will depart from Ohio on June 26th and over the next 15 days we will cover nearly 5,000 miles as we visit America.
